Meet the Makers

Our Amazing Team

Co-founders Karina and Sophie met while studying and going through an incubator at their alma matter, Queen's University, where they discovered their entrepreneurial spirits. Their strong passion for using business to drive social impact, as well as complementary skillsets brought them together as the founders of New Future Creative. Both having had previous experience launching ventures, they are committed to building and supporting communities in all current and future ventures. At New Future Creative, this is the love behind the Brighter Future Initiative. Specific passions within business for impact include environmental sustainability, female leadership in business and developing young entrepreneurs.

Brighter Future Initiative

What is the Brighter Future Initiative?

Our team believes that business should be used for good. While social media in the modern age has its challenges, we also recognize that it is a powerful tool for spreading awareness of causes, and for connecting communities. Given the viral nature of Instagram face filters, New Future Creative is in a position to uniquely support impactful initiatives. However, we also understand that budgets in the social impact space are often tight. That's why the Brighter Future Initiative offers free filters to causes, initiatives or organizations that are doing important work to make our world a better place.

Who is eligible?

We accept design requests for not-for-profit organizations, charities, specific causes/ initiatives/ movements, . Here are some spaces that are especially close to our hearts:

• Environmental sustainability
• Female leadership in business
• Developing youth entrepreneurs
• Mental health
• Diversity & Inclusion

However, we accept requests from all different initiatives. On average, we select one cause for the Brighter Future Initiative per month.

How to apply?

We are always looking for amazing causes to support with filters! Please reach out to us if your organization or cause would benefit from the viral social media impact of an Instagram face filter. You can contact us through our online form. We also accept nominations!

In your submission, please include some information about your organization or cause, a description of the proposed idea for your custom Instagram face filter, a link to your website (if applicable), and Instagram handle. We will get in touch from there!

Past Brighter Future projects

In the Summer of 2020, we created the game filter 'Blink at 40,000' pictured to the right for Herb. The filter was designed to spread awareness of the 40,000 individuals incarcerated in the US for non-violent cannabis related crimes at risk of contracting COVID-19 while in the prison system. You can read the Herb article about the filter and how it helped support the #LastPrisonerProject here.
